Youth and Teens are invited to join us this summer to learn to sail in Dyes Inlet! New and returning sailors are welcome. Our goal is to make each week a new and exciting experience. All skill levels are welcome! Scroll below to learn more about our 2025 camp offerings, and what gear is needed for a fun week on the water.
Both youth and teen groups will incorporate fun STEM learning into camp sessions. Some weeks in the summer feature extreme low tides, also providing incredible beach experiences for our sailors. Other weeks provide exploration of additional STEM concepts with hands-on experiences both on and off the water. Each camp session will have a general focus guided by our instructors, as well as a choice time for sailors to explore their favored activities. |
Participants meet for camp at the head of the pier at Silverdale Waterfront Park.

2025 youth & teen camps
Youth Camps (Ages 8-12)
Campers will be learning to sail in Optimist sailboats (Optis) - small, single sail boats designed especially for younger sailors who weigh 120 pounds or less. These boats are easy to handle, highly stable, and tons of fun - ideal for learning the fundamentals of sailing.
Campers will learn: basic sailing terminology and boat parts, how to rig and de-rig an Opti sailboat, wind awareness and points of sail, steering and sail control, water safety and right-of-way rules, teamwork, responsibility, and problem solving on the water.

Participants need:
Please review our Sailing Camp Checklist for more details to ensure your sailor is prepared for a great week on the water! Optional: Helmet. While sailing, the boom moves across the boat when changing tacks. We teach our sailors how to safely move in their boat to avoid being hit in the head by the boom, however some opt to wear helmets just in case. Please review the below information on concussions if this is of concern.
