Hello Sailing Enthusiasts of Kitsap County,
We are pleased to announce the resumption of adult sailing programs.
Sailing Course for Adults
KSF Adult Sailing Lessons are held at the Port of Silverdale main dock. Boats used may be RS Quest, Lightning, or other. Lessons will be limited to 3 adults per instructor, with a maximum of 6 adults per session. Included in tuition is the US Sailing Basic Keelboat textbook. Student/Instructor ratio is 3:1. Each class begins with lessons from the textbook with a "chalk talk: at the sailing float, followed by on-water training and a review at the end of each class. Each session is held either Monday/Tuesday OR Wednesdays/Thursdays from 5:30 - 8 pm. for two weeks. Student must be comfortable on the water and wear a life jacket at all times.
Cost of the four session sailing lessons is $240 plus processing fees.
Classes are taught by US Sailing Instructors, at least level 1, and use on water and on shore lessons to teach essential sailing and safety skills. Courses are suitable for beginner sailors and requires moderate agility. All sailors must have comfort with being on the water or in the water with a life vest. The focus is on safety, fun and sailing skills and knowledge. Skills acquired may allow sailors to be certified to take boats out during our community sailing nights.
Participants need:
Cancellations 2 weeks prior to the beginning of a class, a full refund will be issued. No refund will be provided if a student is dismissed from the program for violating our program rules, health and safety rules, or if a student elects not to continue with the program.
Class cancellations: If the weekly course is cancelled or a participant becomes ill (with a physician's acknowledgement), a prorated refund will be provided.
Inclement weather & other unforeseeable conditions: In the event inclement weather or other unforeseeable reasons it may become necessary to cancel classes. If this happens, we will contact you via email by 8 a.m. on the day of class (or sooner if we have more warning). Please keep us updated with your latest email address. Note: We do not provide compensation or replacement classes if class must be cancelled due to causes described above. This is quite rare and as of now we have not had to cancel a class.
