High School Sailing Team

For Students in Central Kitsap
Our program is available to secondary school students in the CK district. The season for high school sailing is March through May. In our 7th year, we have several returning and new sailors from all 3 high schools in the CK District.

Sailors new to the team must contact Coach Trunkey immediately.  Currently we are pushing the limits for space in boats so new contacts will be added to our wait list.

Our sailing program is operated through Kitsap County Parks and Recreation. The Northwest Interscholastic Sailing Association (NWISA) is the organization that governs high school sailing in the region. Their website lists the teams we compete against and provides a schedule for regional activities.

 Forms

Registration fee and all forms can be turned in to coaches at our first practice on Tuesday, February 21st.  You may also send the registration directly to Kitsap County Parks and Recreation.

First practice, Feb. 21st. See Expectations document for details.
Capsizing practice - Olympic pool, Feb. 24th at 7:15.

We always have practice, though we might not actually sail if it's too windy. Practices are important for gaining the skills necessary to sail in Regattas.

Rain and cold do not keep us from sailing. Consequently, sailors must have appropriate gear for sailing in winter conditions.

Weekend Regattas
We compete nearly every weekend from the beginning of March until late May or early June. Sailing at regattas is the point of the sailing team. Those sailors who attend most or all of the regattas learn and improve far more than those who miss regattas.
